Melanie Curry is a content strategist and editor specializing in entertainment, culture, lifestyle, and beauty. Curry got her start in the industry freelancing for Men's Health, InStyle, and Byrdie before scoring a full-time position as an editorial assistant at Hearst Magazines in August 2021 where she learned the ins and outs of digital strategy (specifically tools like Keywords Everywhere, Dash Hudson, and Semrush)  and wrote for all brands under the Hearst umbrella. 

A year later, Curry became the assistant editor at Cosmopolitan and wrote for the lifestyle, entertainment, and beauty teams. She assisted the site director and social editor with digital and social strategy by identifying high-performing stories across the Hearst brands and syndicating them. Her efforts led to a surplus of site page views (average of 200k+ per syndication) and social traffic, which contributed to the brand's monthly digital goals. Additionally, she produced a weekly Looker report outlining the top five performing stories under each vertical. Lastly, she spearheaded the membership model and edited the weekly newsletter using SailThru.

A skilled interviewer, Melanie's passion for anything Gen-Z and celebrity news fueled her love for writing culture and entertainment stories. She's interviewed numerous celebrities from Queen Charlotte's Arsema Thomas to director Ava DuVernay and the team behind the Netflix miniseries Colin in Black & White. Celeb culture aside, her attention to the cultural zeitgeist and its impact on identity politics has lent itself to thought-provoking stories like this Bratz v. Barbie op-ed and House of the Dragon diversity analysis. 

It is her eye for detail and curious nature that sharpen her skills as a journalist. She’s proficient in several audience developmental tools such as Parse.ly, Crowd Tangle, Google Analytics, Social Flow, and Dash Hudson.
